Travel Buyer Panel:

Chris Brockman, Electrolux

Chris entered the travel industry in 2001 with an educational background of Business, Communications and IT. He started working on the Online Fulfillment Support desk for Maritz Corporate Travel in St. Louis when the Online Booking Tools were in their infancy. Chris has held several leadership roles on the TMC side of the business, managing both After-hours teams and Online Fulfillment teams. As TMC acquisitions played out, his team of 12 grew to 120 as Maritz became CWT.

In 2007, Chris moved to Atlanta to become a Multi-National Account Manager for CWT, handling a variety of accounts in the Southeast region. A Electrolux’s North American Travel Manager, he has successfully managed a diverse travel program with focus on traveler experience and bottom line savings.

He has been active on the board of NCBTA since his arrival in Charlotte in 2010 and currently holds the position of Vice President. He is truly passionate about the travel industry and feels he is very fortunate to be in a field he really enjoys.

Charity Event:

Each meeting we like to collect items for a charity in our community that we feel is important.

The board has chosen Govenor Cooper's School Supply Drive for Ed Day. Governor Cooper’s School Supply Drive will run from August 14 to September 8, 2017. Gov Cooper is teaming up with State Employees Credit Union, Communities in School of North Carolina, and North Carolina Business Committee for Education to kick off the the Govenor's School Supply Drive, and GBTA North Carolina Chapter is getting involved!

Requested supplies include:

  • All types of paper
  • Pens, pencils, and dry erase markers
  • Spiral notebooks
  • Tissues and sanitizing wipes

On average, teachers spend about $500 of their own money on supplies for their classrooms each year, and state funding for school supplies has been cut in half since 2008. In March, Gov. Cooper announced his budget proposal, Common Ground Solutions for North Carolina, which called for a $150 annual supply stipend for all North Carolina public school teachers to help offset the cost of purchasing supplies. The teacher supply stipend was not included in the budget passed by the North Carolina General Assembly.

Please bring school supplies with you to Ed Day. We will have collection bins and will deliver the supplies for you.
